Together, We Build a More Inclusive South Carolina

Every gift strengthens opportunities, expands access, and opens doors for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across our state. Your support fuels critical programs, empowers families, and helps create a future where every person with IDD can thrive.

All year long, The Arc of South Carolina works to advance inclusion, expand opportunities, and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families across our state. Because of supporters like you, we achieved extraordinary impact this year—reaching more families, strengthening more partnerships, and expanding critical programs that promote safety, independence, and community belonging.

Through our Autism Law & Emergency Response Training (ALERT) program, we trained more than 100 first responders and grew our team to over a dozen certified trainers, improving safety and understanding for people with IDD in emergency situations.

We helped more than 125 individuals and families overcome their fear of flying through our Wings for All® events at CAE and GSP and continued planning with additional airports to expand this life-changing program.

At Disability Advocacy Day, we welcomed more than 400 attendees and over 30 disability-focused organizations as we worked alongside families and self-advocates to push for stronger services, better access to essential supports, and improved outcomes for all South Carolinians with disabilities.

Our Digital Literacy Initiative equipped more than 400 participants with essential online safety and technology skills—empowering people with disabilities to navigate the digital world with confidence.

During our 2025 MLK Day PB&J Competition, volunteers prepared more than 2,200 meals for neighbors facing food insecurity, with nearly 100 volunteers joining us to make a meaningful impact in the Midlands.

Throughout the year, our team connected with families across South Carolina, offering resources on Medicaid waivers, special education, Social Security Disability, supported decision-making, crisis planning,  future planning, and more.

We continued to partner with USC Best Buddies to support inclusive friendships and leadership development, and we delivered workshops and trainings that helped families understand their rights, tell their stories, and strengthen their advocacy skills.

As a lead partner of the South Carolina Partnership of Disability Organizations (SCPDO), we advocated at both the state and federal levels—urging lawmakers to protect Medicaid, SNAP, special education, and voting rights while helping families learn how to advocate effectively for themselves.

Through our case management services, we supported more than 3,400 individuals and families statewide, connecting them with critical services, offering individualized guidance, and helping them navigate complex systems with care and compassion.

Your generosity makes all of this possible. With your continued partnership, we can expand our reach, strengthen our programs, and create a more inclusive South Carolina where every person with IDD has the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.  Every gift, at any time, helps us continue this life-changing work for individuals and families across our state.
