Day of Service and Remembrance

The Arc of South Carolina is honoring the 2026 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance through Sensory Support Kits of Service, a statewide volunteer project bringing together youth, people with disabilities, families, schools, community programs, and supporters to thank first responders and help create sensory support kits for communities across South Carolina.

So far, 267 confirmed volunteers have contributed 221 hours of service and created 115 cards, drawings, posters, and other messages of appreciation for first responders. We are now wrapping up the final phase of the project, including assembling sensory support kits and gathering final participation information.

While this year’s 9/11 Day project is coming to a close, showing appreciation for the first responders who serve our communities is something we can do all year long. We’ll be sharing more photos, stories, and final project results soon.
