The Arc of South Carolina, an affiliate of our national Arc, has recently reorganized in an effort to advocate more effectively for children and adults with Special Needs.  In South Carolina critical issues facing our citizens with Special Needs and their families include growing waiting lists for services, increasing number of aging caregivers, maintaining essential services and family support services that are so vital for people living at home.  The Arc advocates for education, housing options, employment opportunities, choice and self-determination, and inclusion in the community resulting in greater independence for our citizens with Special Needs.  There is a strong need for innovative services and supports to supplement state-funded services, for an independent voice to inform policy makers concerning best practices in the provision of services, and to monitor how well these services are being implemented.  We would like you and your corporation to join us in our venture.

In 2006 The Arc of South Carolina kicked off the corporate support drive in the Midlands area to enlist 10 to 15 top businesses to sponsor our efforts on behalf of people with Special Needs.  We are asking you to make a $500 - $5,000 tax-deductible contribution.  In return, your sponsorship will be acknowledged on the Arc website and on The Arc of South Carolina brochures sending the message that your vital support enables The Arc to fulfill its mission of improving the lives of people with Special Needs through advocacy, training, and inclusive community opportunities.  Additionally, in conjunction with the Town Theatre, The Arc sponsors a theater production each year and your $500 contribution will entitle you to a ¼ page ad on the playbill for that production which will be seen by over 5,000 attendees.

As we look to the future, we are excited about opportunities for The Arc to make a difference for people with Special Needs.  Won’t you be a part of our new initiatives in 2006 by generously supporting The Arc through our 2006 corporate support drive?  All donations are tax deductible.

We thank you for your support.  I hope to have the chance to meet with you in person to provide more information about The Arc of South Carolina and how you and your organization can change lives of people with Special Needs.

Best regards,

Jack Hatfield
