The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
The Arc of South Carolina operates and functions with the following 4 ideals at the forefront of its existence:
● The dignity and self-worth of every family/caregiver and individual are valued and respected, as evidenced through the appropriate resources, guidance, and support administered by the Executive Director, service coordinators, and administrative staff members within the organization.
● Provides people-centered planning, services, and programs that focus on the holistic perspective of the individual and their families/caregivers.
● Educates each region within the state of how inclusion, empowerment, and equality are imperative to improving the life status and well-being of individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities living in South Carolina.
● Leads the charge in promoting disability advocacy and political involvement to our clients, families, residents, community leaders, and other key stakeholders in the state of South Carolina.
At The Arc of South Carolina, we believe in person-centered planning — an approach that empowers people with disabilities to make choices about their lives.
