experience inclusive recreational and social activities in the
community by matching them up with Volunteer Companions. If you are
or know an adult with special needs who would like to participate in
this program, please complete a

People On The Go
People On The Go is a self advocacy group started in 1991 and is one the first groups of its kind in South Carolina. The membership is made up of more than 60 people living in Richland and Lexington counties. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month to discuss issues affecting people with special needs. Guest speakers are also invited to make presentations that provide information about opportunities available for those with special needs and to offer instructions on how POGO members can get actively involved. Best Buddies
The mission of Best Buddies International is to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.
The Arc of SC is the Host Site Coordinator for The University of South Carolina's Best Buddies program. Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies has grown from one chapter on one college campus to a vibrant, international organization involving participants annually on more than 750 middle school, high school and college campuses in the United States, Canada, Cuba, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Sweden.
