Welcome to the Arc of South Carolina
The Arc of South Carolina advocates for and alongside people with cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc of SC is a non-profit, grassroots organization, founded over forty-nine years ago by a small group of parents and others concerned about the rights of people with developmental disabilities. Over the past 6 months, we have hired a new Executive Director and welcomed 8 new members to our board of directors. We are now in the process of developing many new programs that will assist people with special needs and their families as they plan and live their lives. We need your help - volunteer opportunities abound. Don't just sit back and watch us grow, come and be a part of the excitement!
The Arc of South Carolina is affiliated with The Arc of
the United States. The Arc of the United States advocates for
the rights and full participation of all children and adults with
intellectual and cognitive disabilities.
Since 1950, The Arc of the US, in conjunction with it's state
chapters, has provided leadership in the areas of advocacy,
education, public awareness, prevention and research.
Parents have a continuing need for practical information about their
child's disabilities and services available in the community. They
many times do not know where they need to go in order to get
appropriate help. The Arc can help answer these and other important
questions by serving as a statewide information and referral
service. Please contact your local chapter or the state chapter with
any questions.
